Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder is an underdiagnosed neurological affectation
impacting many areas of a patient’s life. It is diagnosed by an expert but is often assessed
in minors using rating scales, filled by parents and teachers. ADHD is treated mainly with
strong medication such as stimulants which present many adverse effects. Massage therapy
is one of many alternative treatments for children and is a response to the need of many
patients for a non intrusive type of treatment. It is one of the smoothest and most effective
methods for children to lower symptoms of hyperactivity and inattention. Studies have
shown massage therapy to be twice as effective in enhancing attention compared to
exercise therapy.
